Hair Loss and Hair Restoration Clinic in Markham & North York, Ontario

Get Your
Hair Back. With Real,
Medical Results.

Hair loss rarely has one single cause, and it rarely has one single fix. We start by working out what is actually happening on your scalp. Then we tell you what can realistically be done about it, what it will cost in Canadian dollars, and what it will not achieve. If a treatment is unlikely to help you, we will say so.

Why Hair Loss Happens?

Genetics

Androgenetic alopecia accounts for up to 95% of male hair loss, driven by DHT sensitivity in follicles.

Hormonal changes

Fluctuations in testosterone, estrogen, and thyroid hormones disrupt the follicular growth cycle.

Scalp health

Inflammatory conditions, seborrheic dermatitis, and poor microcirculation weaken follicle anchoring.

Lifestyle factors

Nutritional deficiencies, chronic stress, and environmental toxins accelerate follicle miniaturization.

How We Fix It?

Hair Transplant (FUT/FUE)

Individual follicular unit extraction with 98%+ graft survival — permanent, natural-looking density.

PRP Therapy

Platelet-Rich Plasma injections reactivate dormant follicles using your own concentrated growth factors.

Laser Hair Therapy

FDA-cleared photobiomodulation stimulates cellular energy and blood flow to the scalp dermis.

TED / Regeneration Methods

Trans-Epidermal Delivery technology enhances absorption of growth factors without needles or downtime.

About us

About Our Hair Restoration Clinics in Ontario

DrHairs is a medical hair restoration clinic with two locations in Ontario, Canada: Markham in York Region, and North York in the City of Toronto. We assess and treat hair loss in men and women across the Greater Toronto Area, including androgenetic alopecia, male and female pattern hair loss, diffuse thinning, excessive shedding and receding hairlines.

We provide both surgical and non-surgical treatment. Our surgical options are FUE and FUT hair transplant, along with beard and eyebrow transplant. Our non-surgical options are PRP therapy, low-level laser therapy, TED needle-free hair regeneration, scalp micropigmentation, and medical treatment including prescription medication and hormone assessment.

Consultations are free at both Ontario locations and include a scalp assessment. No referral from your family doctor is required. Surgical procedures are performed by physicians registered with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario. Hair restoration is classified as a cosmetic procedure in Ontario and is not covered by OHIP.

Both clinics run the same assessment process and offer the same treatments. Come to whichever one is easier for you to reach. If you start treatment at one and it later suits you better to attend the other, that is not a problem.

Treatments

Hair Loss Treatments at Our Ontario Clinics

No single treatment suits everybody, and the right answer often involves more than one. Every option below is available at both our Markham and North York clinics. We recommend after the assessment, not before it.

  • FUE and FUT Hair Transplant

Surgical transplant using follicular unit extraction or strip harvesting, including hairline design, beard and eyebrow work.

FUE and FUT hair transplant →
  • PRP Therapy for Hair Loss

Platelet-rich plasma prepared from your own blood and injected into thinning areas of the scalp.

PRP therapy for hair loss →
  • Low-Level Laser Hair Therapy

Laser therapy used to stimulate the scalp and slow the rate of thinning, usually as part of a wider plan.

    Our laser therapy technology →
  • TED Needle-Free Hair Regeneration

Trans-epidermal delivery. Growth factors are moved into the scalp using ultrasound, with no needles.

    How TED delivery works →
  • Scalp Micropigmentation

Cosmetic pigment applied to the scalp to create the appearance of density or a defined hairline. It does not regrow hair.

    Compare all restoration options →
  • Medical and Hormonal Treatment

Prescription hair loss medication, hormone assessment and nutritional support, prescribed after review.

    Hormone and medical treatment →

Not sure which of these applies to you? Our hair restoration guide compares every option side by side, and our page on hair loss explains the common causes and types. If you would rather just ask, the consultation is free at both clinics.

Straight answers

Five Things We Tell Every Hair Transplant Patient

Most people arrive having read a lot of marketing. Here is what we actually say in the room, so you know before you book.

  1. Not everybody is a suitable candidate for surgery

A hair transplant moves hair from the back and sides of your scalp to the areas that are thinning. If your donor area is not dense enough, or your loss is still progressing rapidly, surgery may give a poor result. We would rather tell you that at the consultation than after you have paid.

  2. A transplant does not stop hair loss from continuing

Transplanted hair is taken from areas that are genetically resistant to thinning, so it tends to stay. The hair around it can carry on receding. That is why we usually pair surgery with an ongoing medical or non-surgical plan.

  3. FUE is not a scar-free procedure

FUE leaves many small circular marks across the donor area rather than one line. They are easier to conceal than an FUT scar, but they exist. Anyone telling you a transplant leaves no mark at all is overselling it.

  4. Results take most of a year

Transplanted hair typically sheds within the first few weeks before regrowing. Meaningful density usually appears between six and nine months, with the final result at around twelve to eighteen months. Nothing looks finished at three months.

  5. Nobody can guarantee a specific outcome

Graft survival, healing and growth vary from person to person, and are affected by your health, your medication and how closely you follow aftercare. We can tell you what is likely. We cannot promise you a number.

If any of this changes how you were thinking about treatment, that is the point. The consultation is free at both our Markham and North York clinics, and you are not committed to anything by coming in.

Cost and coverage

Is Hair Restoration Covered by OHIP in Ontario?

This is one of the first things patients ask, and it is rarely answered clearly anywhere. Here is the position in plain terms.

OHIP does not cover hair restoration

Hair transplant surgery, PRP therapy, laser therapy and scalp micropigmentation are classified as cosmetic procedures in Ontario. The Ontario Health Insurance Plan does not fund cosmetic treatment, so none of these are covered by OHIP.

The narrow exception is hair loss resulting from a documented medical condition, injury or burn. Even then, coverage is assessed case by case and is never automatic. If you think your situation might fall into that category, bring any relevant medical records to your consultation and we will tell you honestly what we think.

Private insurance and paying for treatment

Most private extended health plans in Canada follow the same position as OHIP and exclude cosmetic procedures. Some plans do cover prescription hair loss medication when it is prescribed by a physician, so it is worth checking your drug benefit specifically rather than assuming.

All treatment is quoted in Canadian dollars before you commit to anything. You receive the full cost in writing at your consultation, including how many sessions a non-surgical course would need, so there is nothing to discover later.

This is general information about how cosmetic procedures are classified and funded in Ontario. It is not financial or insurance advice. Check the specific terms of your own policy with your insurer.

Our method

The DrHairs Three-Stage Hair Restoration Method

Most clinics sell a procedure. We work through three stages, and surgery is only one possible outcome of the first.

  1. Diagnose

Scalp analysis, donor area assessment, medical history and, where relevant, hormone review. We establish what is causing the loss before discussing what to do about it.

  2. Restore

The treatment itself, chosen to match the diagnosis. It may be surgical, non-surgical, or a combination. Where a transplant is performed we use the robotic FUE systems and AI-guided graft mapping in our clinics to plan extraction and reduce the time follicles spend outside the scalp.

  3. Maintain

Hair loss is progressive. We monitor results and adjust the ongoing plan, because protecting the hair you still have matters as much as replacing what you have already lost.

How we work

Clinical Standards at Our Ontario Clinics

Surgical hair transplant procedures at our clinics are performed by licensed physicians registered with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario. Non-surgical treatments are delivered by trained clinical staff under medical supervision. You can read more about our clinic and our team.

Every treatment plan begins with a scalp assessment rather than a package we are trying to sell. You will be told what is realistic for your case, including when the honest answer is that a treatment will not help you enough to be worth the cost.

They do not represent a guarantee that you will achieve a similar outcome. Hair restoration is a cosmetic procedure and is not covered by OHIP. All prices are quoted in Canadian dollars.

Realistic Outcomes

Results Built Around the Individual

Hair restoration results are not immediate, and outcomes differ between patients. Hair transplant growth develops gradually over several months. Non-surgical options may require a series of sessions and continued maintenance before progress can be properly evaluated.

The result may be influenced by:

  • The cause and stage of hair loss
  • Donor-hair availability
  • Hair calibre and characteristics
  • Scalp health
  • Treatment selection
  • Individual biological response
  • Adherence to aftercare
  • Continued progression of existing hair loss

We believe patients should review documented results with context. Before-and-after cases should explain which treatment was performed, the approximate timeline and whether combination therapies were used.

Individual results vary. Previous patient outcomes do not guarantee the same result for another patient.

Common questions

Frequently Asked Questions

Where are your clinics located?

We have two clinics in Ontario. Our Markham clinic is at 7080 Warden Avenue, Unit B3, Markham, Ontario L3R 1S2, on Warden just north of Steeles. Our North York clinic is at Centerpoint Mall, 6464 Yonge Street, Unit 116, North York, Ontario M2M 3X4, at Yonge and Steeles. Both have free parking.

Is hair transplant covered by OHIP?

No. Hair transplant surgery and other hair restoration treatments are classified as cosmetic procedures in Ontario, and OHIP does not fund cosmetic treatment. Most private extended health plans in Canada take the same position, although some cover prescription hair loss medication. We provide full pricing in Canadian dollars at your consultation.

Do you charge for a consultation?

No. Consultations are free at both our Markham and North York clinics and include a scalp assessment and a discussion of your options. You are not committed to anything by coming in.

Do I need a referral from my family doctor?

No. You can book an assessment with us directly, either by calling the clinic you would prefer to attend or by booking online.

Are all treatments available at both locations?

Yes. Both clinics run the same assessment process and offer the same range of surgical and non-surgical treatments. If a particular procedure needs to be scheduled at one location on a given date, we will let you know when you book.

Do you treat women as well as men?

Yes. We assess and treat female pattern hair loss, hormonal thinning, postpartum shedding and diffuse thinning in women. Hair loss presents differently in women than in men, and the assessment reflects that.

Can I travel to you from outside the Greater Toronto Area?

Yes. We see patients from across southern Ontario, including Barrie, Hamilton, Kitchener, London and Ottawa. If you are travelling a long distance, tell us when you book and we will try to arrange your assessment and treatment to reduce the number of trips you need to make.

How soon can I be seen?

We can usually offer a consultation appointment within the same week at both Ontario locations. Call the clinic you would prefer to attend, or book online.
